Dallas, Texas, Lawyer Clearing Your Criminal Record
Any charge on a criminal record can have severe and unforeseen consequences. It can limit your life in important ways, adversely influencing, for example, where you can live and what kind of job you will be able to obtain. Legal procedures like expunction/expungement and non-disclosure can help you protect your future and put the past behind you. At the Menchu Law Office, in Dallas, we can help guide you through the process.
Our founding attorney, Tim Menchu, has 14 years of experience in criminal law. A former prosecutor, he is dedicated to achieving results -- not just in the courtroom, but in the lives of his clients. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for either expunction/expungement or non-disclosure. Mr. Menchu can help you explore your options.
Expunction / Expungement
In an expunction, your record is completely cleared. Everything is erased from all state and federal computers, your file is destroyed and you are back to where you were before you were charged with a crime. Expunction is available to all acquittals, certain dismissals, certain victories on appeal or a pardon.
Non-disclosures
In non-disclosure, your record is "sealed." Law enforcement and certain government agencies still have access, but access is sealed from the public. Although the results of non-disclosure are not as extensive as expunction, more people are often eligible for this option.
